Our rustic, hand-hewn log cabin is the perfect retreat for anyone needing a break from the mad rush of life without sacrificing the comforts of home. Surround yourself with the chirping of birds, the croak of frogs, and the song of the wind blowing through the trees. Spy on wildlife as they make their way down to the lake for a drink, or wend your way down the path to your own private shallow swimming beach and dock. Search for fossils along the beach, toss a line in for fish, or hop in your boat for a casual float around the lake. Your closest neighbors lie across the lake, but you are still close to the conveniences of Walnut Creek Marina and Boat drop, and you are still within 5 miles of downtown Scottsville and the entrance to the Barren River State Park. The accommodations include a 720 square foot cabin and a totally private acre of lake fronted forest. The cabin has one large bedroom area upstairs, featuring a queen size bed and a day bed with a trundle. We have one bathroom with a shower and tub. The small kitchen features full size appliances, and everything you need to cook and serve your meals. The main living area features leather and antique furniture, a stone fireplace with a propane log fire, a TV with basic cable, and high speed WIFI. There is a screened in balcony off the bedroom perfect for your morning coffee or evening reading nook, a wood deck off the back with year round views of the water (lake view from April through late October, creek view through the winter). This is the perfect spot for a small family, a couple seeking a private week away, artists or authors seeking inspiration and solitude, or anyone just needing to get back in touch with nature. We do not, however, recommend this rental for anyone with mobility limitations as there are rocky steps, stairs inside, and an unimproved forest trail down to access the lake. There are no pets allowed at this property. Please keep in mind that properties on the lake are on small septic systems. When we say this property is suitable for 4 people, that is really the maximum number of people the septic system can handle. Please do not plan large gatherings.

Recreation: This home was built for making a lifetime of memories for our family and yours. Our 4 acre property offers plenty of room to explore, relax, and get away from everything. A gentle stream feeds a cove that borders our property which then feeds into the main channel of the lake. A canoe and pedal boat are available for your use along with a Stand Up Paddleboard. If you'd like to bring your own vessel the Beaver Creek Boat Ramp only 2 miles away for launch. Target shooting is a family favorite and there is ample open space for football, baseball, and outdoor games of all kinds. Covered porches afford you the opportunity to be outside regardless of the weather with gorgeous views. We have completely updated this property with paint, flooring, bathrooms, enclosed porch and large deck; new furniture and many unique features. Two driveways which can accommodate parking for three boats with electrical outlets for charging batteries, and for you fishermen, we have a fish cleaning table and outdoor sink. Zack's Market right past Barren River State Park entrance. They have beer, liquor, awesome pizza, burgers, fries, sandwiches and general groceries. There is also a Dollar General within 4 miles, Barren River State Park is approximately 6 miles. They have a beautiful 18 hole golf course, horseback riding, walking trails, picnic shelters and a wonderful restaurant. Paradise Point, a local favorite, is 4 miles and open weekends year round, Glasgow is 20 miles for shopping and dining, Bowling Green 30 miles and offers The Corvette Museum, Beach Bend Park, Lost River Cave and more. ANCHORS AWAY VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT ANCHORS AWAY VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT This rental agreement is by and between Anchors Away Vacation Rental Owners and (only) person reserving vacation rental on this date. (No sub-rental). Guest will be renting above property beginning first date of reservation and last day of reservation departure. Check in time is 4:00 pm., and check out time is 11:00 am. CDT, unless prior arrangements have been made. The rental rate is established on our VRBO website, listing number 911062. The rental rate is the same for one to 6 persons. For each person, adult or child, there is a $20 fee per day per person for more than six guest. Anchors Away owners will assume all utility bills in full, unless guest stay for a period longer than two weeks. In this event, Anchors Away will assume one-half the utility bills and guests will assume one-half the utility bills. Guest must not leave doors or windows open when HVAC unit is in operation as this can cause extensive damage to the unit, of which guest will be responsible. If guest prefer to have windows open for fresh air, HVA unit must be turned off. Anchors Away owners agree to deliver a safe, clean and well maintained rental and agree to all, if any, problems in a timely manner that may arise during their stay. Guest agree to keep property in same condition it was in upon their arrival. Anchors Away property owners assume no liability for injuries which occur during their stay which may arise out of carelessness or guests being unsafe. Guest agree to use all the safety measures necessary to assure they receive no injuries. Guest agree to notify Anchors Away property owners immediately if any injury occurs. Upon departure, wash and put away any dishes used, or place in dishwasher and turn on, dish washing detergent is under the sink. Empty personal food from fridge, empty all trash/garbage from indoor and outdoor trash cans and place in blue trash can sitting behind the garage. Remove sheets from beds and place in laundry basket on dryer. Place all wet/used towels in washer or on top of laundry basket. Any missing or damaged towels, hand towels, wash rags or kitchen towels will be charged to your credit card in this manner: $5, $8. $10. (Women, please do not removed mascara/makeup with wash rags as mascara will not wash out. Any damaged linens will be charged to your account, Please notify owners upon your departure to turn in the keys. A fee of a lost key will be $25. NO PETS ALLOWED, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK. There is one master suite on the top floor (amazing views) with its own beautifully appointed full bath. There are two additional bedrooms on the top floor (one with twin over twin bunk bed and the other with a full bed and an additional twin over twin bunk). The main floor offers another master suite with another very nice bathroom featuring ceramic tile throughout. The fifth bedroom is situated in the basement, also with its own full bathroom. The main floor boasts a spacious, well-appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, bar seating and anything you would need to prepare a gourmet meal. There is plenty of seating for a large family to enjoy a meal together. The kitchen adjoins the large living room featuring gigantic windows overlooking the lake, 55" flat screen TV and fireplace, perfect for relaxing after a day on the water. Step right outside the sliding doors and take in the picturesque views from the expansive deck or fire up the gas grill and prepare the days catch from the lake. Relax, enjoy your drink of choice with only the sounds of nature around you, it truly is an amazing set up. After dinner, check out the 1,000 square foot game room featuring a brand new pool table, foosball table, ping pong table and 55" flat screen TV. Walk right outside to enjoy a few S'mores over the firepit (we provide wood), or relax outside under the deck in the newly installed in Sept 2017 hot tub, and enjoy the peace and quiet the surrounding woods has to offer. Lastly, on the top floor, we have a very comfortable loft set up so everyone can gather and watch a movie to end the night. We equipped the house with WIFI, brand new flat screen smart tv's in each bedroom, DirecTV on four of those TV's. All the TV's allow you to access Netflix, Roku, Hulu, HBO GO just to name a few. There is also a DVD player with a number of DVD's to choose from. We have also provided a number of toys for kids in various locations. ** Barren River lake cabins are somewhat high up....we would not consider it a "gentle slope" down to the water. The cabin is newly furnished and extra cozy. It's well equipped with WIFI, Smart TV, a full kitchen, coffee bar, and an extra-long dining table. All beds are brand new and all linens are white. Outdoors, there are lots of relaxing options from the covered porch, outdoor breakfast table, rocking chairs, and firepit. And, don't forget the hot tub! If you have a boat, bring it! If not, there are several marinas who rent by the hour or day. The Shady Pine is located 1.5 miles from Browns Ford boat ramp, and dock space is provided. Plenty of parking and trailer storage. The large upper deck is a walk-around from the front to the back of home with sitting for eight, Weber propane grill, table and outdoor heater. The living room has two sets of French doors to the upper deck with outstanding views of the lake from kitchen, dining and living room. The lower level has a second living room/game room with stone fireplace, large screen TV, Xbox 360, DVD player, board games and a kitchen area with sink, small refrigerator and microwave. There is access to the covered lower deck from the lower living room with steps to a private walkway to the water. There are two downstairs bedrooms and a full bath. One bedroom has two twin size bunk beds and the second has a queen size bed with attached bath. There are multiple air mattress in the downstairs closet if additional beds are required. All bed linens and bathroom towels are provided. There is a full laundry with washer and dryer in the lower level. A driveway will accommodate multiple vehicles is located on the property, no need for street parking. There are single and double kayaks as well as canoes for rent at the house, no need to go anywhere to rent and return.

New improvements for 2018! We have covered the back deck! Now there is plenty of room to eat, hang out, and relax in the shade and out of the rain when it comes! Last year we added a fire pit and remodeled the downstairs bath to include a shower. We have also added a sister property next door allowing us to accommodate an additional 10 guests. Please contact us if you have a large group and need the extra space! We can now accommodate groups up to 24 people! Our house is situated near the end of a private drive shared by 3 families. We like to call it "The Lake House". This 5 bedroom house (one of the bedrooms is a loft) will comfortably sleep up to 14 people although the rates are based on 12 occupants. Additional guests may stay at a rate of $25/guest per night. This is a no-pet (including companion animals and emotional support animals), non-smoking property. You will enjoy an amazing family room with comfy couches, a stone gas fireplace (used seasonally), and a high ceiling with large windows looking out over the lake. There is a well equipped kitchen and dining area with a table that will seat 10. From the kitchen you can walk out onto the upper deck and relax or operate the available gas grill. The master bedroom is on the main floor and has a king bed and a door that leads out onto the back deck. There is also a full bath on this main level. Upstairs is the loft with a queen size bed, a small bedroom with a twin size trundle bed, and another full bath. The lowest level in the home has two bedrooms, each with a twin over full bunk bed. There is a bathroom on this level with a shower. The laundry is located just off of one of the bedrooms. There is a family room on this level that has a game table, a sleeper sofa, a gas fireplace (used seasonally), and a 55" TV with BlueRay, and DVD. There is WIFI available throughout the house and on the deck. There is a large upper deck overlooking the lake with plenty of space for everyone! There is a lower deck with a porch swing perfect for enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. The family room and one of the bedrooms open onto this lower deck. The house is just a short walk from the lake down a set of easy stairs. There is dock access and the swimming and fishing is great from the dock too! While staying at our house, you are just minutes from Bailey's Point Recreation area and public boat ramp, minutes from Barren River Lake State Park, and about 45 minutes from Bowling Green, KY. It would be easy to visit the National Corvette Museum, or Mammoth Caves. This is a great place for families to enjoy some quiet, relaxing, fun times together. You will be staying in a fairly private area and although there are houses close by, this is a quiet neighborhood. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place! This lake is managed by the Army Corp. of Engineers. The water level is regulated to be at summer levels from May through the middle of October. From the middle of October until the first part of May, the lake is at its winter level and all private docks on the lake are unusable. During this time, the lake cannot be seen from the house. The lakebed is still a fun place to walk and there is a small creek that flows year round. During the summer, the lake level stays fairly constant unless there are heavy rains or extreme drought. Because of this, we cannot guarantee what the water level will be. Please ask questions if you have any.

Simply Sailing is a quaint one bedroom, one bath cottage that sleeps four, located at Barren River Lake. The home has everything you need for your stay. Basic cooking utensils, a charcoal grill, TV with DVD player with movies and board games are there for the perfect family vacation. A drive thru car port makes it very easy to protect your boat or whatever you are pulling. The car port is also has a RV plug. We do welcome "small" family pets ($75 non-refundable fee) "Free Wi-Fi"

Closer still is the charming town of Fountain Run, with it's hometown restaurants (home cooking and barbeque) and small town shops. Glasgow isn't far away with even more shopping and dining experiences! If you are coming to fish, Brownsford Boat Ramp is only 1 mile away. A short 45 minute drive will take you to Cave City where you can see Mammoth Cave, located on a beautiful state park. Cave City is also home to Funtown Mountain, great family fun just moments from state highway I-65! Kentucky Down Under isn't far from here either, another family attraction that will keep your family learning while on vacation!! Bowling Green, Ky is not too far as well, home of the world famous Corvette Museum. This is the only place in the world where Corvettes are built!! And Bowling Green has tons more shopping and the closest Starbucks! The nearest town is Scottsville, Ky, where you can find many restaurants, shopping and beautiful Mennonite/Amish communities for fresh vegetables, home made breads, plants, herbs and much more!! The first floor of the farm house consists of the living room, one bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, 2 eating areas and laundry room. The second floor is a loft, on the south side is a full size bed and on the north side are two twin beds. All bed linens, bath towels and kitchen items are provided. Central heat and air, screens on the windows if you want the 'whole' experience!! Ceiling fans in every room on the first floor, excepting, of course, the bathroom! The house is set up with wireless internet, so you aren't that far away from the rest of the world! There is enough parking for three vehicles. We do ask that you NOT smoke on the farm. Rental fee includes taxes and cleaning fees.

There are NO CLEANING FEES. Tucked at the end of Hidden Cove Road, you will find our beautiful hide-away cabin with a circle drive for easy maneuvering. This two bedroom Cabin has a queen size bed in the downstairs bedroom, and a queen size bed in the upstairs “master/ loft” bedroom. There is also a sleeper sofa in the great room/living area for two more people to sleep, FREE WiFi-NO Password, Cable TV, and Central A/C. We have a stone fireplace with gas logs for a cozy evening during the cooler seasons (operational seasonally). There are two bathrooms. One downstairs, and a private bathroom upstairs in the master/loft bedroom. It has a large back deck for grilling that perfect steak on the charcoal grill and a picnic table to enjoy your meal in the great outdoors. The gentle slope will take you to the water’s edge for some great shoreline fishing or just relax on the front porch swing. You must be 21 years or older to reserve. We have a NO-Pet-Policy.

If you are staying during the swimming season and the pool is open either myself or my husband will come one time every day or every other day to check the filter, check the levels of the pool and do any cleaning to the pool that is needed to keep it safe and clean for your family.
